babele Marc Sadler, 2005

Rationality and transgression

Pendant fixture providing direct light. Babele’s shade features a spiral pattern in the shade itself along with a textured mica like finish. The shades interior has a golden finish which provides balance to the shade’s strong presence.

Babele, like the Tower of Babel in the Bible, punished for its presumption in wanting to touch the sky, and from there, the confusion of languages that prevented people from communicating among themselves. Instead, a beautiful “bell” that seems forged by hand and that collects new forms of modern conviviality underneath it.
