"Together" exhibition in the Olivetti shop in Piazza San Marco in Venice
IQD, FAI - Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano, the Order of Architects of Venice present the exhibition "Together", the contemporary living of Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, a project curated by Daniele Lauria.The "Together" exhibition was inaugurated the 14th of September in the Olivetti shop in Piazza San Marco, a masterpiece of twentieth-century architecture created by Carlo Scarpa as a showroom for Olivetti machines in 1958.
"The contemporary living of yesterday, today and tomorrow” organised by FAI, the Order of Architects of Venice and IQD magazine, and edited by architect Daniele Lauria.
The exhibition aims to contribute to the debate that has arisen around the central theme chosen by Hashim Sarkis for the contemporary Biennale Architettura ("How will we live together?") through a design project divided into three sections - Yesterday, Today, For Venice - involving architects and urban planners from all over the world. Born from a dialogue between the curator and 2018 Pritzker Prize winner Balkrishna Vithaldas Doshi, the exhibition picks up on Sarkis's question by emphasising the word "Together" as the key to formulating responses capable of processing the additional complexity provided by the ongoing pandemic. A reflection that starts from fundamental themes such as respect for the 'genius loci', the use of local materials and techniques, the involvement of the community in the project, sustainability as a gesture of respect for nature and for future generations. And it is the urgency to find new ways of using urban space and new forms of collective life, the common element that characterises all the projects on show in the three different sections.
The installation project of the exhibition was curated by Studio Lauria Network, and was engineered and produced by De Castelli, with the support of Martinelli Luce for the lighting design.
The exhibition has been made possible also thanks to the support of Barausse, FranchiUmbertoMarmi and Tabu. Specifically, Martinelli Luce has illuminated part of the exhibition with the Biconica Pol lamps - design Emiliana Martinelli - and with the famous Pipistrello - design Gae Aulenti - which will remain permanently in the showroom, donated to FAI.
