Elica at the ADI Design Museum
May, 2021
Yesterday, Tuesday 25th of May 2021, the ADI Design Museum was inaugurated, dedicated to the Compasso d'Oro collection but also to temporary exhibitions and initiatives.
Located in Piazza Compasso d'Oro, near Via Ceresio and Piazzale Monumentale, the museum is the result of the restoration of a historic site dating back to the 1930s, used both as a deposit for horse-drawn trams and as an electricity distribution plant.
The Elica lamp designed by Brian Sironi for Martinelli Luce and awarded the Compasso d'Oro in 2011 is among the design objects in the permanent collection.
It is also possible to discover Elica in the temporary exhibition "Uno a Uno. La specie degli oggetti", placed alongside the Atollo lamp by Oluce. Curated by Beppe Finessi, this exhibition presents a sequence of pairings of objects that have won the Compasso d'Oro in different years and are compared for a comparative analysis to appreciate their different design approaches.
Here are the details of the Elica lamp.
