The Fluida lamp designed by Studio Natural for Martinelli Luce has been selected for the exhibition Italia Geniale. "Design enables" realized during the Dubai Design Week by ADI and ADI Design Museum at the Italian Pavilion at Expo Dubai.
The exposition, curated by Carlo Martino and Francesco Zurlo, starts from the valorisation of Italy's heritage of trademarks and patents, going thorugh the history, the material and technical culture, to interweave with the history of design. The objects on display were distributed in five thematic areas:
Imagin-able: imagine, creating worlds, inventing stories and making them part of our identity.
Work-able: functional as well as beautiful objects, products, services and systems that facilitate work.
Relation-able: artefacts that support or activate relationships between people.
Live-able: Objects having to do with physical and mental integrity, which focus on the theme of caring for oneself and others.
Move-able: objects that promote the freedom to move and to do so in a sustainable way, respecting oneself, others and the environment.
Martinelli Luce's Fluida lamp, Honorable Mention at the Compasso d'Oro 2016, was chosen for the Imaginable section. Born from the desire to create a contemporary object able to adapt to the multiple needs of the desk. Thanks to the LEDs integrated in the flexible band and the magnets inserted in the two bases, it is possible to configure it in multiple positions, a small luminous architecture capable of creating different luminous performances with each movement.
"Fluida was born from the desire to create a new lamp for the desk. The inspiration came to us one afternoon while watching a rhythmic gymnastics exercise with the ribbon. All that movement, those pivots, that energy immediately reminded us of an idea of innate and indomitable flexibility. We wanted a product that embodied these very values, flexibility and dynamism". - Studio Natural
